Toxic Backlink Checker for Your Google Search Console Data
A toxic backlink checker scans the sites linking to your website and flags links that look risky, such as spam-style or unnatural links. ToxicBacklink's toxic backlink checker reads your Google Search Console export, gives each linking domain a low, medium or high risk level with a reason, and lets you review the results before you disavow anything.

What is a toxic backlink checker?
A toxic backlink checker is a tool that reviews the links pointing to your site and highlights the ones that may be low quality or manipulative. It does not decide for you. It narrows hundreds of domains down to the few that deserve a human look.
The usual targets are links from spam-style sites, pages made only to hold links, and the same link text repeated across many pages. If you want the background first, read what toxic backlinks are. To learn how to spot them without a tool, see how to find toxic backlinks manually.
Toxic, bad or spammy backlinks: are they the same?
In everyday SEO talk, "toxic", "bad" and "spammy" backlinks mostly mean the same thing: links from sites that look low quality or unnatural. That is why people search for a bad backlink checker or a spammy backlink checker when they want the same job done.
The word "toxic" comes from the SEO industry, not from Google, and each tool defines it in its own way. Google's own documentation talks about link spam, and you can read its rules in Google's spam policies.
So treat any label as a starting point. ToxicBacklink uses the word because it is the term people search for, but its results say "risky" or "suspicious", because a rule can only suggest that a link is a problem. When you are ready to act on a result, the Disavow File Generator turns your decisions into a file.
How do you check toxic backlinks?
You check toxic backlinks in three steps: export your links from Google Search Console, upload the file to the checker, and review each result.
1. Export your links
In Search Console, open the Links report and download your external links as a CSV. Our step-by-step export guide shows where to click, as outlined in official Search Console documentation.
2. Upload the file
Drop the CSV into the tool at the top of this page. It reads each linking domain and checks it against a set of written rules.
3. Review the results
Sort by risk level, open the reason for each domain, and mark it Keep, Disavow or Undecided.
The How it works page covers each step in more detail.
How does the checker score your links?
The checker gives each domain a score by counting how many written warning signs it shows, and it tells you which ones it found. These are the signals it looks for:
Unusual domain endings
Some endings appear far more often on spam sites than on normal ones.
Spam-style words in link text
For example, text that has nothing to do with your page.
The same link text, repeated
Many links with identical wording look less natural.
Many links from one domain
A long run of links from a single site can be a sign of a sitewide or automated link.
Random-looking or very long domain names
Strings of letters, digits and hyphens.
Raw IP addresses as hosts
Links that come from a numeric address rather than a named site.
Each sign alone proves nothing. A real site can trigger one, and a harmful link can trigger none. ToxicBacklink works only from the information in your file and from its own written rules. It does not use a link database, traffic data or any other data from Google beyond what is in your export. The lists of unusual domain endings and spam-style words that it uses are lists we maintain. Read more on the How it works page, and see the pricing page for what a site audit includes.
How do you read your results?
Each domain gets a low, medium or high risk level, and the level tells you how closely to look, not what to do.
| Risk level | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Low | The rules found no clear warning signs | Usually keep it, and move on |
| Medium | One or two warning signs showed up | Open the site, read the reason, then decide |
| High | Several warning signs showed up together | Review it first, because it is the likeliest candidate to disavow |

Every risk level comes with a plain-language reason, and you can override it. A high-risk link can still be a real site that happens to look odd, and a low-risk link can still be a poor one. Not sure whether to act at all? Read should you disavow backlinks before you download a file.
Is there a free toxic backlink checker?
Yes. Create a free account and you can audit up to 5 sites every month at no cost. Each site audit is one Search Console export for one site. When you need more, a monthly or yearly plan adds tokens, one token for each site. The pricing page lists what each plan includes.
Already know which domains you want to disavow? The Disavow File Generator is free and needs no account. You can see both on the tools page.
What the checker cannot do
The checker gives you suggestions to review, and it has clear limits you should know before you rely on it.
It does not show links to other people's sites. It works only from your own Search Console export.
It does not see every link. Google's report is a sample, so the results reflect the links Google shows you.
It does not know how Google treats a particular link. Its scores come from written rules, not from Google.
It does not send anything to Google. You upload any disavow file yourself.
It does not promise higher rankings or traffic.
Google says to try to remove unwanted links first, and to disavow only if you cannot. Read Google's disavow help page, and keep a backup of your current file before you submit a new one. When you are ready, read how to submit a disavow file. You can also learn more about us on the About page.

Toxic backlink checker questions
How do I check toxic backlinks for free?
Create a free account, export your external links from Google Search Console and upload the CSV to the tool on this page. Your free allowance covers 5 site audits each month.
Is a bad backlink checker the same as a toxic backlink checker?
In practice, yes. Both terms describe a tool that flags links that look low quality or unnatural. This tool calls the results "risky" or "suspicious" because the scores are suggestions.
How accurate is the checker?
It can flag a good link or miss a bad one, so treat each score as a hint and review the reason. Read should you disavow backlinks before you act.
Which file do I upload?
A CSV of your external links from the Search Console Links report. The file needs one column with the linking domains or URLs. The tool suggests that column, and you can change it. The export guide shows the steps.
Should I disavow every link marked high risk?
No. Review each one first. Once you decide, build your file with the Disavow File Generator.
Will it work for a large site?
It works with the links Google gives you, which is a sample, and with the row limit for each audit. See the pricing page, or ask about a custom plan on the contact page.
